Leslieville Real Estate Overview

Surrounding communities might be of interest as well:

Leslieville is situated east of the Don River with its northern boundaries marked by the Canadian National Railway line and Gerrard Street, Coxwell Avenue lying to the east, Empire Avenue encircling it in the west and The Beaches community to the south. A compact village that came up in the 1850s, Leslieville developed around the Toronto Nurseries owned by George Leslie and Sons. The neighbourhood takes its name from this family. If the Toronto Star called the area "Hipsterville East," it had good reason to. Leslieville has transformed in recent years from its little-mom-and-pop-shops-on-street-corners days into a buzzing, active hub of activity.

Proximity to the beautiful expanse of Lake Ontario, infinite biking paths along the waterside, restaurants galore and incredible shopping, Leslieville has pretty much everything you could ask for. Family-oriented as the community is, this is an excellent spot for young parents looking to move into a neighbourhood where their kids can grow up with the right values, in perfect safety.

Who Lives In Leslieville Homes

You will find that most of your neighbours here in Leslieville are young people, with a predominance of young professionals. A good number of families also call Leslieville home, and you can see how the quiet ambience and access to amenities is a big draw for these homeowners. This neighbourhood has historically been a haven for the creatively inclined, and you will still find many artists here.

Leslieville Homes Are Perfect For

Families love this location, and so do those who wish to make their daily commute to downtown more accessible. The public transit system rather efficiently connects Leslieville via service routes on Carlaw, Jones, Eastern Avenue, Greenwood and Coxwell Avenues. Bus routes on Queen and Gerrard Streets also take you to subway line connection points. With the Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Boulevard and the Don Valley Parkway lying close by, you can also get to various parts of Toronto by road. If you are looking for a well-connected neighbourhood, this is just the place for you.

Leslieville is also ideal for those who are looking for a location that has a buzzing retail strip. In this neighbourhood, you certainly have this, and in particular, the dining options are aplenty.

Leslieville Homes Are Not So Perfect For

One of the downsides to Leslieville is that Canada's largest wastewater treatment plant lies somewhat close by. If you want to avoid this, Leslieville may not be the spot for you. The authorities do take adequate care to ensure that there is no bad odour spreading down through the neighbourhood, though.

Leslieville is not your typical, laid back countryside kind of neighbourhood. The area is relatively busy, thanks to its proximity to downtown and its active social scene. Keep in mind if you are looking for absolute peace and calm, you may be a bit disappointed here.

Life and Style, Amenities And Things To Do In Leslieville

Leslieville used to be home to craftsmen and artists, and you can still see vestiges of its past here in its shopping areas. There is nightlife, there are shops, green spaces, and more, all within easy reach, and that makes Leslieville a popular place to buy real estate.

On Queen Street, you have Jonathan Ashbridge Park with two tennis courts, a wading pool and a children's play area. You also have the S.H.
