Lakes —

Sikome Lake is the closest public lake. Sikome is an artificial lake in Fish Creek Provincial Park and is part of the Bow River basin. Swimming is allowed here, and the beach offers lovely picnic spots for families to relax.

Golf —

Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club is a private golf club committed to providing exceptional golfing experiences and is a 12-minute (approximately) drive from Evergreen.

Mountains —

A five-minute drive outside the community brings you to the countryside, where you can view the foothills of the Rockies.

Demographics

According to the 2016 Census of Canada, 21,240 people were living in Evergreen, Calgary, that same year. About 70% of the population is between 15 and 64 years of age. The community has a large population (23%) Of children between 0 and 14 years of age and a small population of 65 to 84-year-olds. The average size of each household is 3.1.

Over 90% of the population comprises couple families, and most of them have children living at home.

Only about 54% of the people have English as their mother tongue.

The community has a large immigrant population (over 40%), but most are Canadian citizens. According to the 2016 Census of Canada, 89% of the houses were occupied by owners. Today, that percentage has increased to almost 98%.

Subdivision Areas

There are two parts of the neighborhood – Evergreen Estates and Evergreen (South).

Developer/builder/history

The community of Evergreen is relatively new. The older Evergreen Estates was developed in the early 90s. Evergreen Estates and Evergreen have separate community associations. Any street with Evergreen in its name belongs to the Shawnee-Evergreen Community Association with the neighbouring Shawnee Slopes Community. The other streets are members of the Calgary Evergreen Community Association.
