Tunney’s Pasture is a 49-hectare (121-acre) area within the City of Ottawa, Ontario, that are exclusively developed for Canadian federal government buildings. There are very few living opportunities available in this area as it is home to 10,000 employees services by Tunney’s Pasture Station. Though, there were bold future developmental plans, the vision for Tunney’s Pasture got lost over time and development stalled during the 1990’s and 21st Century. Today, this campus’ buildings are out-dated and under-used. However, Public Works and Government Services Canada has initiated a plan to redevelop the campus. This plan includes new high-rise buildings and mixed-used commercial and residential space. Within the span of 25 years, Tunney’s Pasture plans to double its employees and add 800 to 1000 residential units. This plan aims to make Tunney’s Pasture a walk-to-work campus community for most of its employees. Current close-by communities include Westboro, Hampton Park and Carlington.
