Although Cedarbrae does not have a lake, it’s a short drive away from Fish Creek Provincial Park, which has a manmade lake. This is an expansive park with miles of biking and walking/hiking trails, wildlife watching, birding, boating in Bow River, fishing in Fish Creek and Bow River, and picnic spots.

Demographics

According to Cedabrae’s 2016 Census of Canada, the community's population was a little over 6,000. While 69% of the people are between 15 and 64 years, 16% are between 0 and 14 years old, and 14% are between 65 and 84 years old.

Almost 80% of the population is made up of couple families with and without children and home. The rest of the population is made up of lone-parent families.

A whopping 90% of the community comprises Canadian citizens, while 10% is made up of non-Canadian citizens (Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia). English is spoken in most households.

Developer/builder/history

The city of Calgary annexed the community in 1956. With the middle class expanding rapidly, there was a need for affordable housing. The development of Cedarbrae real estate began in 1973 to meet those growing requirements.

    Cedarbrae is the 132nd most walkable neighbourhood in Calgary. That means you will require a car to run most errands. The community is somewhat bikeable. There is at least one bus line passing through the community. The closest LRTs to Cedarbrae are Southland Station, Anderson Station, heritage Station, and Canyon Meadows Station. Fish Creek-Lacombe Station is a bit further away (approximately 4 km).

  5. How long will it take me to drive to the airport?

    Calgary International Airport is the main airport serving Calgary. This is also one of Canada’s busiest airports. The airport is approximately 35 km from Cedarbrae, and it will take you around 30 minutes to get there.
