Deer Ridge is perfect for those seeking a Southern Calgary home close to Fish Creek Park. The homes in Deer Ridge represent a wide range of periods and styles. The closest golf course is Maple Ridge Men’s Golf Club on Lake Bonavista Drive SE is about 4 kilometers from the community. The club has about 100 members who meet to play every second Saturday beginning early May until late August.

Maple Ridge Golf Course in the Maple Ridge community is a public golf course for both men and women and a 10-15-minute drive from Deer Ridge Community. It is a mature golf course with various terrain and challenging holes that will test your skills.

There’s no doubt that the most extensive park in the area is Fish Creek Provincial Park. According to the 2016 Census of Canada, 4,100 people lived in the community in 2016. The community has quite a significant population (20%) of 0 to 14 years. About 70% of the people are between 15 and 64 years—about 9% of the population fall in the 65-to-84-age bracket.

Over 80% of the population is made up of couple families with or without children at home. English is spoken in over 90% of homes. French, Spanish, Polish, Tagalog, and other foreign languages are spoken in about 3% of homes.

Owners occupy almost 80% of the dwellings, while the rest of the houses are rented out.

Developer/builder/history

The Land on which Deer Ridge stands was annexed to the city of Calgary in 1961. It was a part of the second-largest annexation to the city that year. The community was established in 1973, and development began in 1978. The community is represented by the Ward 14 Councillor in the Calgary City Council.
