Kingsway South Real Estate Overview

The area was first known as 'Kingsway Park,' which later drifted to 'The Kingsway.' 'The Kingsway' is a road that winds through the heart of the area as well as the name of the Business Improvement Association business district along Bloor Street. The Kingsway is also known as the Kingsway South officially by the City of Toronto for planning purposes. It is named as Kingsway street to differentiate it from a recent extension of The Kingsway, north of Dundas Street.

An Etobicoke lawyer Robert Home Smith who purchased the old King's Mill, was the first to develop The Kingsway neighbourhood in the early 1900s. His vision of the community was inspired by the Garden City principles conceived initially in parts of England and the United States. The neighbourhood is hence described as "a little bit of England far from England,"

The Kingsway real estate market is known for its luxury homes and is famous for the schools in the community. Education centres in the neighbourhood include Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary Catholic School, Lambton-Kingsway Junior Middle School, Etobicoke Collegiate Institute, and Kingsway College Private School.

For commuters, The Kingsway neighbourhood minutes from Pearson International Airport, downtown Toronto, and public transportation. Public transit is made available by the Royal York Station on the Bloor-Danforth Subway line, which is located at the southern border of The Kingsway neighbourhood. Several buses run through the area on Bloor Street West, Royal York Road, and on Dundas Street West.

The Kingsway is a well-planned, premier neighbourhood known for its tranquil setting. It is nestled in the forest of the Humber River Valley, with streets lined with majestic oak and maple trees.
