Lake Sikome in Fish Creek Park is open to the public and the residents of Parkland. The lake’s beaches are lovely picnic spots in the summer. The lake is only about 7 feet at its deepest, so it’s warmer than most lakes. There are three playgrounds around the lake, washrooms, showers, change rooms, a beach shop, and picnic tables.

Parkland Community Centre Ltd., which is affectionately called Park96, is a 22-acre private park owned by Parkland’s property owners and open only to the residents of Parkland. The park has skating rinks, disc golf, tennis courts, and a fantastic playground – a great place for residents to hang out. The park hosts events like the Summerfest, Autmnfest, Sports Swap, Plant Exchange, and Summer Sundays.
For dogs, there is the Parkland Boulevard SE Off-Leash Area. Owners can get their dogs off their leashes, so they can enjoy a run with their dog friends.

For those who like the mall experience, Deep Valley Market Place on Canyon Meadows Drive SE is a one-stop shop for your everyday needs.

Developer/builder/history
The land on which Parkland stands today was annexed to the city of Calgary in 1961. The development of the community began in 1974. The community was built by several builders and Keith Construction, one of the most prominent developers. Today, the community of Parkland is represented by the Ward 14 councillor in the Calgary City Council.
