Welcome to the Calgary neighborhood of Somerset, set at the southern end of Calgary. With so much going on in the community, residents here enjoy as much time outdoors as they do indoors. Reliable public transport is available for Somerset residents who want to travel downtown or other parts of Calgary. Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain Station is about a half-kilometer from the community. Shawnessy CTrain Station and Fish Creek – Lacombe CTrain Station are also less than a kilometer away. Somerset is a car-dependant neighborhood, and you can complete all your errands within the community with a car.

If you prefer a bus, there are several stops in the community. There is some bike infrastructure which makes the area somewhat bikeable.

The community of Somerset is nestled between Spruce Meadows Trail forming its southern border, Bridlewood that forms its western border, and Macleod Trail that forms its eastern border.

Also known as Shawnessy Village Shopping Centre, this massive mall is located on both sides of Macleod Trail and 162nd Avenue SW. The mall houses over 250 stores, including supermarkets, art and hobby supplies, restaurants, banks, automobiles, apparel, and more. Plus, the mall has its very own Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, and The Home Depot.

    South Fish Creek Recreation Association (Cardel Rec South) in the Shawnessy Shopping Centre on Shawville Boulevard SE is the closest recreation centre. The centre is within the Somerset community and offers a wide range of recreational activities. The association provides educational programs as well. Cardel Rec South also hosts the Shawnessy Library and Shawnessy YMCA.

    The world-famous Spruce Meadows Equestrian facility is not very far from the neighbourhood for those who love riding. Spruce Meadows is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility that hosts some fine show jumping.
