Wyhwood Real Estate Market
Since the Wychwood Park neighbourhood was given an Ontario Heritage Conservation designation in 1985, all the homes for sale in the area are considered heritage properties. While a few houses were constructed in the late nineteenth century, a majority of the addresses were erected in phases between 1906 to 1935, and a few residences even came up in the early 1950s.
Arthur Edwin Whatmough, a prominent architect, born in the late nineteenth century, designed a lot of the area, including several homes that were constructed in the Arts and Crafts style (1860 – 1910). Some of the residences were designed by Eden Smith, another prolific architect who was the first president of the Architectural Eighteen Club in 1900. He resided in the community, and his signature traditional English architectural style with natural landscapes is very distinct.
