Demographics

According to the 2016 Census of Canada, 7,810 people lived in private households in the community that same year. Over 70% of the population comprises people between 15 and 64 years of age, and 14% of the population is between 0 and 14 years. Another 14% is between 65 and 84 years, and about 1% of the population is above 85 years.

There are over 3,000 private households in Canyon Meadows. Over 90% of the population speak only English, while 6% speak both English and French. About 25% of the population is made up of immigrants.

Owners occupy approximately 80% of the dwellings, while the rest are rented out.

Developer/builder/history

Development took place throughout the 1960s, and estates were developed along with multiple cul-de-sacs. Canyon Meadows was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961. Shortly after that, in 1963, the community was officially established. The community is represented by the Ward 13 Councillor in the Calgary City Council.
