Coach Hill was founded in 1979 after the lands were annexed to the city of Calgary in 1956. The community centre was also established in 1979. It is located along the Old Banff Coach Road and is flanked by a playground, soccer fields, a baseball field, and an outdoor rink.

In 2000, the typical household income in this neighbourhood was $75,337, with 5% of families considered low-income. Immigrants made up 20.6% of the population in 2000. Condominiums or flats made up 16.4% of the structures. While 15.7% of homes were rented, the rest were occupied by the owners of the properties.
