About 40% of Patterson dwellings are townhouses, and the rest of the buildings are single detached homes and small apartment buildings. Owners occupy about 80% of the dwellings while the rest are rented out.


The neighbourhood of Patterson was established in 1983. Most of the houses in Patterson were built in the 1990s, so you can expect to find relatively new homes fitted with modern and appealing fixtures. The neighbourhood was initially called Broadcast hill because of the CFCN tower. Later, it was named after one of the families (the Patterson family) who owned extensive properties in the neighbourhood.

Patterson hosted the media during the 1988 Winter Olympics. Since that time, those suites have been converted into upscale condominiums.

    Patterson is a car-dependant neighbourhood and will require a car for most errands, but not to worry the area has a lot of convenient parking. There are some bike lanes for those who prefer that mode of transport, and there aren't any significant slopes. The neighbourhood has at least one bus line passing through it, with several bus stops within the community.

  2. Which is the best restaurant in the area?

    If you like Japanese food, you will love Kibo Sushi. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant that serves up foods like dragon rolls, Maki rolls, steamed dumplings, sushi, soups and salads, tataki, Kibo bento, donburi, and more. You can expect quick service, and the staff is friendly. In short, you get more than you expect from this lively restaurant located on Old Banff Coach Road SW.

  3. What services does the community association offer?

    Patterson belongs to the Coach Hill Patterson Heights (CHPH) Community Association, which constantly strives to make the lives of Coach Hill and Patterson residents better. The community association is non-profit and 100% volunteer-based and hosts sports events, recreation programs, community safety initiatives, skating parties, historical walks, and parades throughout the year.

  4. How long will it take to get to the airport?

    YYC is about 40 kilometres from Patterson. You can get to the Calgary International Airport by any of three routes, and the fastest route is via AB-2 N, which will take you 35 minutes.

    It would take you about five minutes more if you drove via AB-201 E.

    There is a shorter route via Bow Trail SW and AB-2 N (about 29 kilometres); however, it will still take you about 35 minutes to reach the airport via this route.

  5. How long will it take to get to the city centre?

    The fastest route in the usual traffic and Bow Trail SW is an 18-minute drive (approximately 11 km) to downtown Calgary. The bus will get you to the city centre in about 40 to 45 minutes.
