Developer/builder/history

The land on which the neighbourhood of Kingsland stands today was annexed to the city of Calgary in 1956. The following year, the development of the real estate housing market began. This was when Calgary was undergoing a period of urbanization, and Kingsland was built with that in mind. As a result, this neighborhood boasts all natural beauty, and it has a lot of amenities for its residents.

    Kingsland lies between Chinook LRT Station and Heritage LRT Station. So, if you rely on public transport for your commute, you are in luck. The neighbourhood itself is Calgary’s 29th most walkable neighbourhood. You can accomplish some errands on foot, but will otherwise need a car. At least two bus lines pass through the community. For those who prefer to bike, Kingsland is very bikeable, and biking is convenient for most trips.

  3. Which is the closest hospital?

    Residents of Kingsland are fortunate to be a stone’s throw away from one of Calgary’s finest hospitals. Rockyview General Hospital is less than 2 kilometers from the neighbourhood. This is a full-fledged hospital on the banks of the Glenmore Reservoir, serving over 220,000 people every year. The hospital has multiple specialty clinics and 24x7 emergency and CCU care.

  4. Where can I find a library?

    There are several libraries around the neighbourhood. The closest is Southwood Library on Southland Drive SW, about three kilometers from the community. Fish Creek Library on Bonaventure Drive SE is about four kilometers away.

    The community association is very active in the neighbourhood and hosts a wide variety of social and family events. Some events are Kingsland Food Trucks, clean up & recycling event, beer tasting, yoga, highland dancing, woodcarving, a host of children’s activities. Sports events include hockey, tennis, and soccer. The ice rinks are very popular as well.
