Lakes

Within Elliston Park is a massive 20-hectare stormwater retention water body known as Elliston Lake. It’s the perfect location for a picnic or a quiet walk. The lake also has a fantastic bike trail that goes around it.

Parks

Elliston Park is the largest park closest to Red Carpet, situated along 17 Avenue. GlobalFest is hosted here every year, and each year, the residents of Red Carpet get a fantastic view of the firework display. This community park has grassy open areas and forested pathways, which is excellent for pet owners. The park has several playgrounds, benches, trails, rose gardens, and picnic tables. If you would like to let your dog romp around off-leash, the southern third of the park is an off-leash zone. The park is also home to the first BP BirthPlace Forest – where a tree is planted in honour of the birth of every newborn baby in Calgary.

Applestone Park on Applewood Drive SE is a lovely park for children. It hosts a playground that caters to the needs of preschoolers to older kids and includes swings, climbers with bridges, spinner, merry-go-round, and more. The park’s playground is known as one of the best in Calgary.
