The community had a population of 3,421 people living in 1,494 homes in the 2012 municipal census, up 1.9% from its 2011 census of 3,357.
In 2000, the typical household income in this neighbourhood was $63,828, and 12.9% of the residents were considered low-income. Immigrants made up 17.6% of the population in 2000. Condominiums or flats accounted for 11.6% of the structures. While 18.4% of the stock was rented, the rest of the properties were occupied by their owners.
The community's median age is 41.2 years, while the median age for the rest of Calgary is 37.4 years. Charleswood has an average of 2.5 persons per family and a near-equal gender ratio of 51% male and 49% female residents. Approximately 16% of the residents of Charleswood are above the age of 65, compared to 10% for the rest of Calgary.
