Demographics
Around 9,000 people live in Somerset in private households. The community has a reasonably large (almost 20%) population of children aged 0 and 14 years. Seniors make up about 10%. How long will it take me to get to the city centre?
You can get to the city center via three routes. The shortest route (39.5 km) is via AB-201, which will take you approximately 25 minutes.
The Macleod Trail SE route is shorter in the distance (about 20 km) but will take you about three minutes longer.
The AB-201 and Macleod Trail route to the city center is the longest (30 Km) and will take about 30 minutes.

Which is the nearest recreation centre?
South Fish Creek Recreation Association (Cardel Rec South) in the Shawnessy Shopping Centre on Shawville Boulevard SE is the closest recreation centre. The centre is within the Somerset community and offers a wide range of recreational activities. The association provides educational programs as well. Cardel Rec South also hosts the Shawnessy Library and Shawnessy YMCA.
The world-famous Spruce Meadows Equestrian facility is not very far from the neighbourhood for those who love riding. Spruce Meadows is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility that hosts some fine show jumping.
