Dalhousie, named after George Ramsay, the 9th Earl of Dalhousie, was founded in 1967.
Dalhousie had a census of 9,085 people living in 3,739 homes in the 2012 municipal census, up 1.9% from its 2011 demographic of 8,917.
In 2000, Condominiums or apartments accounted for 25.1% of the structures. While 26.8% of the housing was rented, the remaining houses were occupied by their owners.
The community's median age is 38.6 years, while the median age for the rest of Calgary is 37.4 years. Dalhousie has an average of 2.5 persons per family and a near-equal gender ratio of 50% female and male residents. A whopping 17% of the residents of Dalhousie are above the age of 65, compared to 10% for the rest of Calgary.
